Partnership Building Activity - Youth as Main Power of Sustainable Development in Europe

Partnership Building Activity “Youth as Main Power of Sustainable Development in Europe” was implemented in Serbia on the mountain of Rudnik from the 13th to 19th of December 2009. The main themes of the project were raising European awareness and Urban/Rural development and a special focus was on sustainable development. Youth leaders and youth workers from 23 organizations from 14 countries participated in the project. In a course of six days they had an opportunity to raise their awareness about sustainable development and discuss the philosophy related to sustainable development as a tool for fostering active participation of young people in sustainable development of urban/rural areas and raising European awareness among these groups.

Among-municipalities agreement signed by eleven local self-governments on making local waste management plan

As the result of the activities of the among-municipalities working group for environment protection and sustainable development in the South Bačka district and along with unselfish support of German Organization for Technical Support – GTZ, at a meeting of the Council of the South Bačka aministrative district, under the coordination of the Head, Ms. Darije Šajin, an among-municipalities agreement on making local waste management plan was signed among the following municipalities: Beočin, Bečej, Bačka Palanka, Bački Petrovac, Temerin, Titel, Žabalj, Sremski Karlovci, Vrbas, Srbobran i Bač. Thanks to the among-municipalities cooperation, the making of these plans will be financed by German Organization for Technical Support – GTZ, while it will be professionally done by the Faculty of Technical Sciences of Novi Sad, the Department for the Environment Engineering.

This agreement is the result of the training called “Managing Among-municipalities Project Cycles in the Field of Communal Waste in the South Bačka District” that was implemented by “Environment Engineering Group” with the cooperation of the South Bačka district. This training was financed by German Organization for Technical Support – GTZ.
